Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) was an African- American civil rights activist. Ms. Parks was a 42-year-old worker in Montgomery, Alabama when she caught a bus on December 1, 1955. Shortly after she sat down, a white man got on the bus and had to stand.
